Sometimes if you are given options like, opening your trigonometry notes or hitting the sack, more often, you resolve to choose the latter. This is a common problem of anyone prior to taking an exam. They usually find themselves too lazy to lift a finger and turn the cover despite knowing that they’re about to fail an exam if they’re not execute that crucial act. They just don’t get that much motivation to do anything at all. So essentially, the problem is motivation.
But how do you exactly motivate yourself, when you open that book, the numbers are already making you feel dizzy? Or the coverage is from page one to one thousand, and you’ve only got until tomorrow morning? Or you feel like your body is about to breakdown and the slightest movement of a finger could trigger kingdom come? Isn’t that a bitch?
Although it is admittedly difficult to start you up and running if you just don’t feel like coming at all to begin with, motivation isn’t a never-land place. There are tons of ways to get you motivated. Here are some:

  1. Visualize your Goal
Knowing what you want to accomplish is the most basic form of motivation. The appropriate output is a reward itself that could motivate a person to work. So if every time you feel like lazing-off, think about what you really want at the end of the day, to gain momentum. In this case, it would be to pass your upcoming exam.
  2. Predisposition
This is basically planning ahead. Convince yourself in doing the things that you have to do prior the moment you will be doing them. Often, it is human nature to procrastinate, that’s why delay happens a lot and you are not an exception to this. So give yourself some slack by being predisposed really early. Say, give yourself an hour allowance or more, and when you finally exhausted all your procrastinations, you can better yourself up and running.
  3. Know Thy Fear
Is something like saying that, “I don’t want that, that’s why I am doing it”, and in time basis, that means now. It is one method of setting up your priorities. First you must answer to the urgency of the situation then visualize the worst aftermath if you fail to act accordingly. It helps to know what you fear of to prevent it from happening. Once you get a clear picture of the bad things that could happen to you, like getting grounded for a failed mark, joining the unemployed ranks of the country, death due to starvation, and what not, you also get a clear picture of what would have to do.
  4. Reward Yourself
Basically positive reinforcement. Since you could not corporally punish yourself (except masochists) you can resolve to other measures instead, like implementing a reward system. Reward yourself each time you accomplish something. Knowing what goodies await you ahead, will motivate you to persevere in accomplishing your tasks. For example, if you ace the exam, you will buy yourself an IPod or an IPhone, depending on what you want. Food goodies work as well.
