Top Waterfalls to Visit here in Iligan
Here in the Philippines, a little far south of the queen city of the south-Cebu, lays another gem city that tourists should consider in their vacation game plans; one that would definitely quench the thirst of finding the water paradise -The City of Waterfalls, Iligan City.
This amazingly, highly urbanized city of the Lanao region lays some 795 kilometers southeast of Manila. The place holds its title “The City of Waterfalls” with pride, being the only city here in the Philippines to have as many as 21 falls in its realms. Needless to say that each waterfall spot holds a panorama of a watery paradise-sight, enough to put its viewers into awe, it also reserves a sense of inspiration to a true appreciation of the enthralling beauty of nature, putting spectators into reverence and withholding them of their inclinations or propensities to neglect the environment, and cultivate awareness and responsibility to it.
Although, as many as 21 falls allocated remotely in different place of the city, one might not be able to cover the visits to all of these paradises. Sure as all the waterfall spots are as relatively breath-taking as the others, there are still that utterly stand-out from the rest. Here are the top 3 on the list:
- Maria Cristina Falls
This waterfall is also the primary source of power generation of the city harnessed by Agus VI hydroelectric power plant and supplies 80 percent of the total energy requirement of the Mindanao region. This 320-feet landmark is the 4th of the highest waterfalls in the Philippines and holds a majestic “twin-fall” (the flow is separated by a stone in between on the tier) view from the top. The fall truly holds awe to its spectators. - Tinago Falls
As what the name implies, “Tinago” a bisayan word for “hidden”, this fall hides remotely in a deep ravine of barangay Buru-un. In order to get to the very place, one must partake on a journey of a 300-step long staircase leading down to where it is situated. The fall measures a 420-feet high tier at its highest drop. Tinago Falls resembles a lagoon to its spectators. Its mysterious blue-colored waters will capture the hearts of any tourist who comes by visiting. One could even bask in its waters but just be careful though, as the basin is 55ft deep. - Limunsudan Falls
The Limunsudan falls is by far the second highest falls in the Philippines, second to the Alwag-wag falls in Cateel, Davao Oriental. Though not as famed as the Maria Cristina falls, definitely doesn’t become short of a site than the former. The falls still holds a spectacle in beholding its two-tiers visible to any spectator’s perspective. It has a combine height of some 870 feet, let alone its lower cascade that measures up to 400 feet, higher than that of Maria Cristina’s.
Iligan City is undisputedly the City of Waterfalls of the Philippines. If one has the vacation plans for nature trekking, Iligan city is definitely the place not to miss.
