There are many ways to beautify our homes. But one of the easiest and simplest tricks that I’m sure most wives know is accessorizing the windows with valance window treatments. For those who do not know, the valance window treatment is the one that we see hanging on top of the window. It does not cover the whole area of the window like the curtain, but rather, it just covers the upper one third of it. They are the toppers in the window that can be installed with or without a curtain.

To some, the valance window treatments are just really for decoration’s sake, but also, they can be for more practical reasons. They can be used to hide some imperfections or to hide some things that distract the eye in your window frame. It can also be used as a shade from the sunlight during the daylight.

For homemakers and wives who want to redesign or give a room in their house a new feel, adding a valance window treatment is the easiest way to do it. By changing the style or color of the valance window treatment, it can add elegance, a pop of color or a simple laid back feel, depending on which style you chose of course.

There are lots of types of valance window treatment and I will just enumerate the more popular ones.

1. Rod – Mounted Valances – they can be installed in your window with just a use of a rod.

2. Board – Mounted Valances –They are quiet similar to the first one I mentioned but not the same. This kind of valance window treatment is attached to a board located in both ends of the window frame. This is also more expensive and more complicated to make.

There are a lot more different types of valance window treatment. You can even make your own design. Just be creative or you can also check out some home furniture or redecorating magazines for more ideas.
