Symptoms of stomach ulcer include abdominal pain, indigestion, nausea and vomiting. While there are many conventional stomach ulcer remedies available through prescribed antibiotics and antacids, below are nature-enriched ulcer home remedies that may work for you.

Fiber and Citrus

Adding citrus and fiber rich foods is the simplest home remedy for stomach ulcer. Citrus help protect the stomach lining. Fiber hastens the digestion process.

Banana
These fruits contain anti-bacterial substances that may prevent the growth of Helicobacter pylori, bacteria that triggers occurrence of ulcer. Studies show that eating bananas help stomach walls become thicker. It is also believed that bananas increase the mucus production in the stomach, which in turn results to a better barrier between digestive acids and stomach lining. Eating plantains is also helpful.  Plantains should, however, be cooked because they are too hard and tough to eat raw. Green plantains are considered a more potent medicine for healing ulcers than ripe ones.

Honey
Raw Honey is a natural remedy for stomach ulcers. Raw honey is a powerful healing property that once ingested, attacks bacteria and strengthens the abdominal cavity.

Ginger
Indian and Chinese people use ginger as an additive in cooking meals. While ginger acts as a good preservative, it also has antibacterial effects that can kill salmonella in food. In traditional medicine, ginger is used as a sedative, analgesic, and remedy for colds, flu and stomach upsets. Ginger can be consumed in a variety of gingerbread, ginger ale, teas, and ginger snaps. Because ginger is an antibacterial, it can prevent the growth of ulcer-causing bacteria. It also works to reduce the volume of gastric juices.

Licorice
While licorice is popularly used to flavor candies, colas, teas and medicines, it is believed to contain an element that is thought to sooth irritations, reduce inflammation and protect the stomach by increasing its mucus secretion. Licorice also contains flavonoids, compounds that can inhibit the growth of bacteria that trigger ulcers.

Fenugreek Leaves

Fenugreek contains mucilaginous, a compound that is helpful in coating and protecting the stomach lining. Fenugreek leaves when brewed are an effective home remedy for stomach ulcer.

Elm Bark
Slippery elm bark is known for its ability to soothe mucous membranes lining the stomach and duodenum. It is often powdered and is mixed with a cup of warm water three times a day.

Wood Apple
Soak wood apple leaves overnight. Drinking extracts from wood apple leaves are shown to help reduce stomach pain and inflammation.
