Subsequent to prestige, the increasing trend of college students’ faith on law school rankings is also due to the fact that these top-tier schools are affiliated with large law firms which can give its graduates early career success. Almost always then, the brightest students (and the others who can pass descent law school entrance exams) will opt to be in these top schools, making the school’s reputation and graduates’ future success closely related.

This truth led to an uproar of law school ranking competitions; different sources advertise different results as based on different standards, too. Each year, college students from different parts of the world send thousands of application letters to the revered top schools included in the lists published everywhere. However, graduating from a reputable law school is not the only passage to success; good grades and real talent are amongst the most basic standard in delineating good and first-rate lawyers. In the end it is still passion, motivation and the genius in the chosen field which define what a successful lawyer means. And no matter how true that top-tier law schools can indeed provide new lawyers good seats in large law firms with big salaries to start with, it is only the individual who can give himself long-term success in the legal-practice.
