Motivation comes when there is a clear goal in sight. With a picture of a positive future in mind, there comes a sense of excitement which moves you to action towards your goals. On the contrary, if there is no goal in sight, you don’t feel motivated and energized when working.

Fortunately, you have the power to change your state of lack of motivation to one of high motivation that makes undertaking even routine assignments fun and enjoyable. The way to accomplishing that is first, to have a long-term goal that energizes and motivates you to perform. Having an energizing long-term goal, you can connect whatever you are doing presently to that long-term goal.

With a passion-producing long-term goal, you gain a considerable amount of mental energy to accomplish the task at hand. How the brain works is wonderful. If you can visualize that accomplishing each task brings you closer to your long-term goal, you will always be motivated to do more with enthusiasm and joy. In days when you are least motivated and low on energy, all you need to do is to get in touch with your long-term goal and your mind will drive you to action with a new sense of energy. Here is how to make it work for you all the time:

1. Visualize an instance where you would like to be more motivated (health, work, enriching relationships, etc.)

2. How would you feel and look in the next 1 to 10 years, if you were to excel to a surprisingly high level in your visualized state?

3. Now, get in touch or associate with that successful feeling inside you right now.

4. With this feeling of a sense of accomplishment and success, think of yourself becoming like that as you direct your attention to the important tasks you have on your hands.

5. Let this motivation arising from your connection with your long-term goal lead you from one action to the other, building success momentum as you proceed. Though your vision or long-term goal may be far in the future, bringing it to the present through this mental programming helps you to enjoy the feeling of accomplishment, which then leads you on to achieve that vision. After all, life is a journey and if you can enjoy traveling the road to your destination, why not?
